UruvilAppEroLi (உருவிலாப்பேரொளி)

UruvilAppEroLi ~ Hymn explanation

In order to see the sacred feet of the Lord of the sacred Kailash mountain, who is a formless (in the form of) magnificent light (he appeared as a towering Linga of light to Vishnu & Brahma, who could neither find the top nor the bottom), the easiest way is to worship him by singing the praise (like the 63 Nayanmars starting with Appar, Sundarar, ThirugnAnasambandhar & MAnikkavAsakar) of the one who didn’t appear from a womb (Lord Shiva is a Yaksha who doesn’t have mother, father or origin).

Oh lord, who as Adiguru DakshinAmurthy sat facing the south and transmitted the yogic wisdom to the seven sages known as Saptharishis, please cleanse my mind of the darkness of ignorance and take my soul sooner, and offer me the opportunity to serve you devotedly by singing your praise in all the streets of the town. Through that, please clear my mind of all doubts / worries and bless me to attain the higher state of enlightenment (self realisation).
